The School of Management of Guizhou University was founded in November 2004. It is composed of several institutions that have a history of over 80 years, including the former Guizhou Agricultural and Industrial College (founded in 1941), the former National Guizhou University (founded in 1942), the School of Economics and Management of Guizhou University (established in 1997 through the merger of Guizhou University and Guizhou Agricultural College), and the former Guizhou University of Technology (2004). It has a long history of more than 80 years and academic tradition. They come together to form the School of Management, sharing similar or related disciplines.
The college has one first-level discipline doctoral program: Management Science and Engineering (domestic first-class construction discipline, key discipline of Guizhou Province); two first-level discipline master's programs: Management Science and Engineering, Business Administration; two master's programs in second-level disciplines: Enterprise Management (provincial key discipline), Accounting; two professional master's program: Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA). Furthermore, the college offers six undergraduate majors, including Business Administration, Human Resource Management, Marketing, Engineering Management, Accounting, and Financial Management. Among them, Engineering Management is a national first-class construction major, while Human Resource Management, Marketing Accounting and Business Administration are first-class construction majors in Guizhou Province.
The school has existing provincial and ministerial-level scientific research institutions, including the Baltic Sea Regional Research Center, Karst Region Development Strategy Research Center, Karst Region Innovation and Development Research Institute, Guizhou Internet+ Collaborative Intelligent Manufacturing Laboratory, and Guizhou Philosophy and Social Science Laboratory of Colleges and Universities of ‘Collaborative Innovation in Digital Transformation and Governance’. Furthermore, the college has established cooperative relationships with business schools of famous universities at both domestic and international universities, such as Harvard Business School, Illinois State University College of Business, School of Management in Gävle University in Sweden, School of Accounting in Tohoku University in Japan, School of Management in National Central Universityin Taiwan, School of Management in Yuan Ze University in Taiwan, School of Economics and Management in Tsinghua University, School of Management in Fudan University, School of Management in Zhejiang University, School of Economics and Business Administration in Chongqing University and other famous universities and business schools domestically and internationally.
The college owns a faculty with profound academic attainments and rich teaching experience. There are 126 staff members, including 111 full-time teachers. Among them, 62 teachers hold senior professional titles, accounting for 55% of the total. There are 68 teachers with doctoral degrees (including those currently pursuing their doctorates), and 16 doctoral supervisors. There are two ‘Top-Ten Innovative Teams’ of philosophy and social science in Guizhou Province. Additionally, there are three provincial-level experts in Guizhou Province, two academic leaders in philosophy and social sciences in Guizhou Province, four provincial ‘Golden Masters’, five academic leaders in disciplines of Guizhou University, one cultivated academic leader in disciplines of Guizhou University, and fine young and middle-aged academic backbones of Guizhou University.
Since the ‘13th Five-Year Plan’, the college’s faculty has been approved for more than 100 scientific research projects at all levels, including the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the National Social Science Foundation of China, the National Soft Science Project, the Humanities and Social Science Fund of the Ministry of Education, the Huo Yingtung Education Fund, the Ministry of Agriculture Soft Science Project, the Provincial Governor's Fund, the Provincial Major Bidding of the Provincial Social Science Program, the Provincial Soft Science Project. Scientific research funds have been listed as the first among all humanities and social sciences departments within the university. More than 800 papers have been published in SSCI, SCI, EI, and CSSCI journals and the proceedings of international and domestic academic conferences. They have authored or co-authored more than 30 monographs and textbooks published by China Social Science Publishing House, Economic Science Publishing House, China Economy Publishing House, and Social Science Literature Publishing House, etc. The scientific research achievements have been awarded the Third Prize of Excellent Achievements in Humanities and Social Sciences by the Ministry of Education, the China Development and Reform Commission, and the China National Development and Reform Commission. Its scientific research achievements have won the Third Prize of Excellent Achievements in Humanities and Social Sciences of the Ministry of Education, China Rural Development Research Award, the First Prize of Excellent Achievements in Philosophy and Social Sciences of Guizhou Province, and the Excellent Decision-making Achievement Award of Guizhou Province, among others, totaling more than 40 awards. Furthermore, the school actively carries out social services, helps the construction of ‘Four Modernization’ and the development of the provincial capital. It actively participates in poverty alleviation and rural revitalization efforts, undertaking 12 training tasks related to the Organization Department of the Provincial Party Committee, providing intellectual support and talent base.
